What does it cost to have a website built?

All amounts are starting prices and exclude VAT. After a short conversation you get a quote with a fixed price, and that price does not change during the build.
Why is the price lower than at a web agency?
Because you work directly with the builder. There is no project manager, account manager or salesperson in between, and no office rent built into the price. You pay for the design and build of your website, not for the layer around it. The site itself is built with the same technology larger firms use: Next.js and React, hosted on Vercel.
Do I have to pay everything up front?
No. Once you agree to the quote, I build a proposal for your homepage first. If you do not like it, you pay nothing. If you approve it, the first invoice follows and I continue building. You pay the remainder at launch, when the site goes live. So you only pay once you have seen what you are getting.
Do the prices include VAT?
No, all prices on this page exclude VAT, as is usual for business services. The quote and the invoice show VAT separately. If you are VAT-registered, you reclaim that VAT through your VAT return. Check with your accountant how to book the build cost.
What would take me above the starting price?
Four things drive the price: the number of pages and how much of the design is bespoke, whether text, photos or translations need to be produced, functionality such as payments, bookings or links to other systems, and whether an existing site has to be migrated while keeping its current URLs. If you supply your own text and photos and need no integrations, you usually stay close to the starting price. What it comes to in your case is in the quote, before I start.
Can I add extra pages or a webshop later?
Yes. I build every site so that pages, a blog, a second language or a webshop can be added later without rebuilding the site. That extra work gets its own fixed-price quote, just like the initial build. You can start small with a landing page or business website and expand as the business grows.
How soon will my website be live?
Most websites are live within 1-2 weeks. A landing page is often ready within a week, an extended website with 5-15 pages takes 2-4 weeks and a webshop takes longer. What mostly determines the schedule is how quickly the text and photos come in. The quote comes with a schedule based on that, and after launch I stay reachable.
