How long does it take to build a website?

Most websites I build go live within 1-2 weeks. A landing page often within a week, a larger site in 2-4 weeks, a webshop in 4-8 weeks. How long yours takes depends on the number of pages, how quickly you hand over content and how quickly you decide. Below is what is realistic for each type of website and how to keep it moving yourself.

Timeline by type of website
These are the timelines I actually deliver, counted from the moment the fixed price is agreed and your content is in. Not a promise for every project, but what you can expect when the preparation is in order.

What the process looks like, from first call to launch
You work directly with me, with no account manager in between. That saves meetings, and meetings are time. The process is the same for almost every project.
- Intro call: what does your website need to do, for whom, and what is your deadline?
- Quote: scope, fixed price and delivery date in writing, within 24 hours of the call.
- Homepage proposal: once you agree, I build that first. If you do not like it, you pay nothing.
- Build: I build the remaining pages in Next.js and put them on a preview address so you can follow along.
- Feedback and launch: you respond to the preview, I process it and your website goes live on your own domain.

What determines how long it takes?
The build itself is rarely what slows a project down. In almost every project that overruns, the delay is waiting: for copy, for photos, for a decision.
- Content: without text, photos and a logo I can design, but I cannot finish.
- Feedback: every day spent waiting for feedback pushes the launch back a day.
- Scope and integrations: every extra page is extra work, and a booking system or payment provider takes development and testing time.
- My schedule: I work on a limited number of projects at a time. I tell you in the first call when I can start.
How to keep the project fast
The fastest projects have one thing in common: the client was ready when I was. These three things are where you save the most time yourself.
- Hand over your content up front: text, photos, logo and contact details in one folder before we start.
- Give quick, specific feedback: ideally within one or two working days, point by point. "The homepage button should be bigger" is useful; "it does not feel right yet" is not.
- Have the decision-maker at the table: if your feedback has to go past a partner or co-owner first, involve them from the start. One contact who can decide saves a lot of back and forth.
What happens after launch?
Going live is not the end. This is what you can expect from me after launch.
- After launch I stay reachable: a message via WhatsApp or the form gets a reply within 24 hours.
- If something I built turns out not to work, I fix it free of charge. One message is enough.
- You can outsource maintenance from €49 per month, covering security updates, backups and uptime monitoring. With text and photo changes included, that is €99 per month.
- Expanding with extra pages, a blog or a webshop is possible later, without rebuilding. You keep ownership of the code, design and content.

Can it go faster if I am in a hurry?
Sometimes. A landing page is often live within a week, provided your text, images and logo are ready at the start and you respond quickly to the proposal. If you have a hard deadline, mention it in the first call. You then hear straight away whether it is feasible and we plan the start date around it.
When should I hand over my text and photos?
Ideally, hand over your text and photos before the start, and no later than the first week. If you do not have copy yet, I can help you with the structure, but expect extra time in the planning.
How many revision rounds are included?
Two revision rounds are included as standard. Because you already review the homepage proposal and follow the build on a preview address, more are rarely needed.
What if the delay is on my side?
No problem, the fixed price does not change. I pick the project up again as soon as your content or feedback comes in; the delivery date does shift along with it.
How long does it take to build a webshop?
Count on 4-8 weeks. The time is not in the shop itself but in entering products, connecting payment methods and shipping, and testing everything before you take the first order. I build a Shopify webshop from €2,499.
