Affordable website development: custom-built from €499
Last updated:
Looking for an affordable website that still looks professional? I build custom websites from €499, including responsive design, an SEO foundation and a contact form. No templates, no hidden costs and no agency in between: you talk directly to the person who builds your site. Most sites go live within 1 to 2 weeks. Whether you are just starting out as a freelancer or run a small business that wants to grow online, you get a website that fits your budget and your goals.

Affordable is not the same as cheap
There is a difference between cheap and affordable. A €50 website from Fiverr looks like a bargain, but often delivers a poor result: slow, unusable on a phone, invisible on Google and a design that makes your business look amateurish. That costs you more in the end: customers leave and you commission a second website anyway. An affordable website is professionally built, with deliberate choices that keep the price down without cutting quality. I build with Next.js and React, work alone and have no overhead. That is how I can charge competitive prices for a website that lasts you years.
What do you get on a small budget?
Even on a smaller budget, I deliver a finished website that represents your business well. Every site is custom-built, so no standard WordPress theme or page builder. For Coja Snacks, for example, I built a business website with a menu and contact information: exactly what a snack bar needs. This is included as standard:
- A unique design that matches your brand, not a template
- Fully responsive: works well on phone, tablet and desktop
- SEO foundation: fast loading, correct page titles and descriptions, clean HTML structure
- Contact form and clear buttons, so visitors can reach you easily
- SSL security and a privacy statement that complies with the GDPR
- Google Analytics integration to measure your visitors
- Advice on your page structure and copy, so the site brings in enquiries
- You own the code, the design and the content
Want to know what this would cost for your business? Tell me briefly what you need and I will reply within 24 hours with a fixed price.
What does an affordable website cost?
Fixed prices, agreed up front, no surprises afterwards. These are my starting prices for 2026, excluding VAT. The exact price depends on the number of pages and what goes on them, but this gives you a realistic picture.
- Landing page (1 page): from €499, ideal for one service, a campaign or an event
- Business website (3-5 pages): from €899, the most common choice for freelancers and small businesses
- Extended website (5-15 pages): from €1,499, for businesses with more services, content or functionality
- Webshop: from €2,499, a complete online store with payment integration
- Recurring costs: hosting €10-€25 per month and a domain name €10-€15 per year
- After launch I stay reachable. Maintenance is optional, from €49 per month
Affordable custom build or a free website builder?
Free website builders like Wix, Jimdo or WordPress.com look attractive, but come with limitations that cost you money in the long run. You depend on their platform: the code is not yours, your site runs on their servers and on the free plan their advertising sits on your pages. To remove it you pay a subscription that, after a few years, costs more than a custom build. SEO options are limited and you are tied to their templates. A custom website is yours: faster, easier to find, more professional and ready to expand whenever you want. The price difference is smaller than you think; the difference in quality is not.
How I work: fast and affordable
How can I build professional websites at competitive prices? By working smart. I have no office, no team and no account manager pushing up the price. From the first message you talk to the person who builds your site. You tell me briefly what you need and I build a proposal for your homepage first. If you do not like it, you pay nothing. If you do, we agree a fixed price and I build the rest. Most websites are live within 1 to 2 weeks, a landing page often within a week. No endless meetings, no middlemen, just a professional result delivered fast.
Tips to keep the cost down
Want to make your website even more affordable? This is how you keep the cost down without cutting quality.
- Start with what you really need and expand later, a landing page is a fine starting point
- Supply your own text and photos, that directly lowers the price
- Choose a clean, simple design that can be built out later
- Use good stock photos instead of a photoshoot
- Limit the number of pages at launch to what your customers need right now
- Only add maintenance when you need it

Frequently asked questions
How affordable can a website be?
A professional landing page starts from €499 and a business website with 3 to 5 pages from €899, excluding VAT. These are not bare-bones sites: you get a finished, responsive website with an SEO foundation and a contact form. After a short conversation about your needs you get a fixed price that fits your budget.
Is an affordable website also good for SEO?
Yes. Every website I build has a solid SEO foundation: fast loading times, correct HTML structure, good page titles and meta descriptions and a design that works on mobile. Because I build with Next.js, my websites score well on Core Web Vitals, a ranking factor on Google. I do not cut corners on SEO, not even on a small budget.
Can I upgrade later?
Yes. I build websites that can grow. Extra pages, a blog or a webshop later on: all of it is possible without rebuilding your website.
Why not use a free website builder?
Free builders like Wix and WordPress.com look attractive, but you pay for it in limitations: slow loading times, limited SEO options, their advertising on your site and no ownership of your code. A custom website is faster, more professional and entirely yours.
Are there hidden costs?
No. The price I quote is the price you pay, fixed up front. Hosting (€10-€25 per month) and your domain name (€10-€15 per year) are the only recurring costs, and I discuss them beforehand. Maintenance is optional.
How long does it take to build an affordable website?
A landing page is usually ready within a week. A business website with several pages takes 1 to 2 weeks on average. The turnaround also depends on how quickly you give feedback and supply your text and photos.
What is the difference between a cheap and an expensive website?
The difference is in size and functionality, not in base quality. An affordable website contains the pages and features you need for a professional online presence. A more expensive website has more pages, more complex features (such as a webshop or a client portal) or an extensive CMS. I always get design, speed and SEO right, whatever the budget.
Can I expand an affordable website with a webshop later?
Yes. You can start with a simple business website and add a webshop later when you are ready. Because I build in a modular way, your existing website does not need to be rebuilt for that. A webshop starts from €2,499.
